Flute Haven
Native Flute School

facilitated by Clint Goss,
Eric Miller, Ron Kravitz,
Lynn Miller, & Vera Shanov

August 16/18/20-22, 2010
Stony Point, NY

Join us for a musical adventure centered on music-making with the Native American Flute. These workshops are designed for players of any amount of experience who want to raise their playing and enjoyment of the instrument to a new level.

We meet in a true haven for music-making: the Stony Point Retreat Center on 32 acres in Stony Point, NY, just South of Bear Mountain State Park. Three programs are offered - choose the one that is best for you:

  • The Three-day Weekend Program running from Fri-Sun (Aug 20-22),
  • The Five-day Program running Wed-Sun (Aug 18-22), and
  • The Facilitator Training Program (Aug 16-22) that provides training for flute circle organizers and facilitators.

On Saturday evening there is a group jam session that is open to friends and family to join us in making music. The closing session is on the morning of Sunday August 22nd and concludes at Noon.

Sessions focus on playing technique, improvisation styles, jamming with other musicians (flute as well as guitar, piano, etc), adding your voice to your music, incorporating rhythm, and song forms. You will come away with the ability to play with confidence and an understanding of rhythms, tones and improvisation.

The native flute is simple to play ... you don't even have to read music!
